Hm... you know ive seen the ember tetras in person, i dont particularly find them to my taste, i prefer tbe microrasboras for nano schoolers. But i did take a look at them in person. Theyre pretty, but just not what im looking for.NoodleCats have you considered ember tetras for any of your tanks? I think they would look facinating.
Also question on pygmy cories- are they pretty shy, and do you then they can be outcompeted for food easily?
As for the pygmy cories, they are shy, need a group of at least 10 to feel comfortable. I wouldn't house them with bigger cories as theyd be outcompeted. BUT they can be housed with other nanos like the ember tetras just fine.
I keep mine with my sparkling gourami and my kubotai rasboras. The kubos are fast little foodies, the sparklers are slower, but the cories do fine as once the food hits the bottom none of the top fish are interested in it. Ill pop in a small piece of a shrimp pellet after dark just for the cories too. But with small tankmates, they do fine for food.
