My daughter and her family went away at Christmas and had someone coming in to take care of their fish tanks. She has a 55 gal. with assorted african cichlids. She also has a 10 gal. fish tank with 8 or 9 juvenile peacocks, about the size of a quarter. About 2 wks. before they were to leave, they cycled a 10 gal. tank and moved the babies from the breeding tank, to the 10 gal. tank. During the 2 weeks before they left, everything was going fine. The babies were growing with no forseen problems. They were gone for a week, and when they got back, all of the babies had died. They tested the water perameters, and the water was fine, no sign of problems there. The temperature in the tank was also where it should have been. It is a complete mystery. Does anyone have any ideas what could or might have happened?:help:

Yep that is weird with the water in good order and temp is just fine..

Maybe the person who took care of the tanks, overfed the juvie peacocks and they died of constipation or bloat. Did that person perform any water changes during that week?

No, not that I am aware of. I think all she told them to do is feed them. Can you underfeed juvi's as well as over feed? I know you can let adult fish go a couple of days without feeding, but what about young fish?

When there young they really need that protein on a regular basis but again in the wild they would be eating floating insects and micro foods suspended in the water column..

Its possible..

Yep, if an unsuitable water change wasn't done, then overfeeding or underfeeding are 2 good possibilities for the deaths.
