Mythbuster Potential

As a new hobbyist with two young boys (3 and 5) who enjoy to wrestle near the tank, these examples are the sole reason I went with an acrylic tank.

I dont know if this is a stupid question, but is there a bullet fish that can ram the glass and bust a hole in it? the mythbusters might like that one.

not that I know of, but mantis shrimp can easily shatter glass (at least the smashers.)

Don't know about a bullet fish, but I have seen Pirannas (sp?) that ram the glass fairly hard when prevoked from the outside.

Enough to break? That's for the Mythbusters.

I would assume if they figure out a fish's top speed and force applied, they could probably figure it out quite easily.

when transporting a tank, acrylic is almost umbreakable at the joints.

the acrylic cement literally bonds the two pieces together.

If it's tempered glass, you can hit it with a baseball bat basically as hard as you can and it won't break.

But if you poke it with something sharp, like a screwdriver, it will shatter into a million pieces.

I'm not aware of any tanks with tempered glass sides though. Maybe small cheap ones.

Lots of tanks have tempered bottoms.

All of my cyprinids are morons. Constantly trying to swim through the glass.

Yes, clown loaches and ID sharks are both known as tank busters.

I've never heard of a clown loach called a tank buster before lol...that's a new one.

There are big fish that can break aquariums though.
(freaked out red tailed cats, pacus...basically fish that are too big for the tank)
