Well I figured sence I need a place to keep track of everything I could do it here and share with all of you.

My BJGD Pair from Ken Fishfarm on MFK just came in I gave them there own 55 gallon with a small baby jag, I'm just growing him out for a bit till he can handle himself in a larger cichlid tank. The pair looks great although they see, to just sit at the bottom. I'm just assuming that trip was one hell of a ride. I have a good feeling about these two... I'll post pics and a FTS in a min there uploading right now. :dance:

I added my blood parrot and cutteri pair for dither fish, the BGJD were just hiding. Right after I put my parrot in the jacks came out to investigate the newcomers. The male BG displays to the female every time they pass each other. I'm turning up the temp soon to 82°F.

Looks like a good setup. My setup is much more simple. I got no substrate 1 pot and on big pice of driftwood. I placed the tank next to my Loisellei tank so they could feel like there defending there home from invaders instead of each other like they were before.

Well they don't seem to understand the feeding concept. They dart and hide when I walk to the tank. The parrot fish and more deco has really brought them out. I'm going to get night crawlers today for them. Seen a lot of tail slapping flaring and some deep coloring. There looking great.

Been feeding well but these two just don't seem to understand the concept of the food being at the top, it must sink in order for them to eat it. I thought jacks weren't pickey eatters hahaha. But they seem to love blood worms and night crawlers if cut small enough, daily water changes at night after there light goes off, I drop the temp to 76°F then let it rise to 83°F trough out the day. I do my best to simulate a nice rain shower. They seem to be flaring and tail whipping alot at least the male, female I'm not so sure about she seems to stay near the male at all times. I just put a mirror up by there favorite cave I had taken it down a for a few days. I noticed some pits dug out and a cave cleared, good signs!

On a side note, my cutteri and blood parrot are at it once again seems like there gearing up to spawn as well. Just what I need... Not haha

They look nice but there in normal dress colors right there. This is a pic of my female in breeding colors below. You shouldnt need to try to simulate the rainy season to breed them. God knows Im not and they just recently had eggs and hatched and there are now hundreds of lil fry. Mine are suppose to be BGJD's as well but honestly I dont know if they truly are also unsure when I need to cull the fry so that the electric blues dont get eaten up by the parents.

As far as them being picky eaters it may be what they got use to from there previous owners. I know mine eat just bout anything I put in the tank. Can vary from fish to fish though. May also be they just need more time to adjust the top of the water is where most fish are more vulnerable to attack from land and air creatures. Just give them time.

Oh and a suggestion you may want to use a bigger pot. I had a small one like that and since both parents couldnt fit in there after a short time the female laid the eggs ontop of the pot rather then inside where there rush of the water began knocking them off one by one.
