Yesterday we went on a little hike in a local park called Skunk Hollow. We always go there for field trips and stuff from my school, so I thought it would be nice just to go and walk around there since it's so nice. We are also going to be doing a big restoration project here in a few weeks where we will make new signs/maps, rip out invasive plants (burning bush, multiflora rose, privette, etc.) and plant native ones in their place. Also, we wil be trying to attract wildlife species to the park by putting in nest boxes, fox dens, and things of that nature. Oh, and the reason it's called Skunk Hollow is because of all the skunk cabbage (which I made sure to get pictures of). So... enjoy!

Very nice!

Sweet pics! Have you ever kick seined or dip netted that creek to see what inhabits the waters?

Thanks (Bo & Rb)! Yes, we actually do that every time we go for a school trip pretty much, because we do field studies in the streams... we test the water for nitrates, phosphates, dissolved oxygen, turbidity and Ph, and we do velocity, width, and depth readings. Then, we turn over rocks and do the kick net to catch some BMI's (benthic macro invertebrates) which will help us determine the water quality of the stream. We also catch fish and crayfish as well, and we have a stream tank set up at school for everything (I have a previous thread with pics).

I bet that is awsome fun :) Thanks for sharing

Very cool! You'll have to take some pics of the next school trip to share with us! I but everybody has a blast!
