Hello, Im new here, and Im not sure if this is where I should put this thread. Anywho- I have 2 Albino African Clawed Frogs, and they are around 10 months old, around 3-4 inches. They both live in the same 10 gal tank, and I was wondering if they need more room? They look a little crowded, but they swim freely and have room. I also think that they are going to mate soon. I know they reach sexual maturity at 10 months, and the girl is SO much bigger than the male. I was also wondering, is there anything that will tell me that they will mate soon?

These frogs get huge, definitely should be in more than a 10 if it is at all possible. I would suggest putting them in at least a 29.

My goal is always to help my animals thrive, not just live. Bigger is always better and we should do all we reasonably can to do our best for them. If you get them in something like at least a 29 you will be happy you did, they will be too.

I agree, a 20 gallon long or bigger would be great for life. These guys don't like water that is too deep so if you go with a 29 gallon keep it about 3/4 full. They also like the light a little subdued so you can add some floating plants to the tank. In college I use to keep and breed these guys in 20 gallon longs.

29 is far from too deep for these guys. I have seen them in tanks 4' tall and full of water with no issues. Even something like a 90 or 110 would be fine completely full.

I disagree, these frogs do best in tanks that are 12" deep. Maybe 18" deep, but as air breathers they definately do best in more shallow tanks. When I kept them, i kept floating plants as well for them to rest in. I would go with a 20 long for a pair.

4' tall and full of water? ummm they do best in shallow water, I'd follow what VF says.
