need advice on a 75 gal.

money is not really an issue because im in the military and dont have anything better to spend my money on since I dont have to pay for anything. Its just until I get out of college I would much rather just have a smaller tank. My clowns are two inches. I doubt that within three years they will be a foot. they happen to be my favorite fish though, so I kinda have to have them in there. I will take your adivce and only get three though it makes sence. so how does this sound than
3 clowns
3 silver dollars
3 congo
pair blue rams
rhino pleco
some kind of gourami any suggestions

I think that will be fine for the time frame you are suggesting, like I said before I am talking about when they become full grown. But so many people do not give these fish(clown loach's) the chance to grow to their potential, I am definately not saying you wont give them the required tank. I am sorry I cant give you much advise on what gourami to get, there are plenty of different types so look around before buying. Anyway good luck with everything and I hope all your fish do very well.

I wasnt trying to be rude, I was just chuckling about the comment. I tried 4 SD's in a 75 and diddnt find it astheticaly pleasing either.

And BTW, my 300g is 72x36x28, so for a 20" fish that is perfectly adequite (and theres an 18' diameter round pond waiting for him in my backyard, also maybe you forgot, but most catfish (shovel noses included) arent open water swimmers, so theres no need for large open swimming space. Coming from someone who said firemouth breathing heavily for 2 days solid "is normal"......I'll choose to take comments a little more seriously from more knowledgeable members.

Well I have had firemouths, hellers etc they all breathe pretty heavy. I know people that have kept firemouths' in the same geographical location as the poster(not that it matters). All the fish all seem to breathe heavy in the same soft water. I have never timed how many gill movements a cichlid has in one mintue, so I could not properly guage how many times is normal. (Mostly because I have a life outside of fish keeping). The poster said his water prameters were fine, and the fish was also fine. You assumed that my cichlids were full grown, as I assumed that you would house that ginormous beast of a fish in a 300 gallon for life.
