I want to make an underwater volcano for my aquascape. The tank is about 30 gallons and about 14" tall. The volcano will sit slightly to the right or to the left of center, will be about 7" tall, will erupt periodically with a flourish of air bubbles coming out and will glow red from the interior.

1. What is the best material to use to make the volcano itself?
2. And the eruption? I was going to have some kind of air bladder with a spring loaded door that would open when air pressure reached a certain point but I am not sure which kinds of materials to use to do this.
3. How to make it glow? I was thinking of putting a red light under then tank and making sure that there was no gravel or filtering system under the volcano to obstruct the light.

Any suggestions? Hey, while you are at it can you think of some really cool fish to stock this tank with that "fit" the volcano theme? It would be way cool if I could find a pic of a real volcano to copy....hey, and noise? I know..i am getting a bit carried away...but add noise to the sensation and a rumbling of the earth....

How big is this tnak going to be? It'd help if I knew what size before I started the stocking suggestions :)

I don't know of any fish that are native to volcanos...

Shark Bait...Ohh Ahh Ahh!

If i remember from when i used to play Runescape lava eels live in volcanos.

There's a Volcano Rasbora, but they don't actually come from volcanos. That wouldn't make sense. I suppose you could look for "firey"-looking fish

A Goby would look wicked.
