Need Snail ID

Wow wanna send me some of those? Those would be great for my collection.

By chance did you happen to take any water readings of the collection site. I'm betting colder water is needed.

I should have taken a temp. If you would like, I can try to get back down tomorrow. I would guess it was cool, perhaps around 70? I only had on my hiking boots, so the guys I caught were in water no more than 5 inches deep.
I think I might put one in my 5 gallon with my Brig and cherry shrimp. The temp there is much warmer, so we can see how adaptable these guys are. As far as sending them to people, I'm certainly game to the idea. Let me talk to a cohort of mine. :evil_lol:
 
My elimia virginica look just like that for shape, but mine have a pink and brown mottled foot with a solid grayish-pink underside.

If it is an elimia, they're pretty slow breeding egg layers, but are supposed to have a lifespan of up to 5 years from what I've read.

More than likely they can be damp shipped. Wrap them in wet newspaper and put them in a bag seal and place in prepaid small box and they should do fine. I checked my laws and I can recieve them here so if your game so am I. Check all the parammeters you can it will help to see what they need to breed.:thm:

Cool! I'll try to get a temp. PM me with detailed info on how to ship. Luckliy, its warm where I am, so we might not need heat packs.

Hopefully it'll be more help than headache, I would imagine searching, image-searching and comparing them all to get a clear ID would be quite tedious.

Based on this list, they are either Elimia livescens, Elimia virginica or Pleurocera acuta. I'll have to do some more research, maybe shoot out a couple of emails to the pros.
 
I'm wondering if the New Zealand Mud Snails is a possible ID ... USGS
