Just a heads up, a peacock eel will eat a neon when it gets a little size on it. Peacocks are peaceful fish but if its small enough to fit in its mouth, it will be eaten. Peacocks get up to 12" so small fish won't work with them.

I've never heard of a malawi peacock getting over 7'', much less 12''.

And even if you add the aggressive fish later it wont help because the other fish arent the same size. The larger fish will still eat the smaller fish and get whatever territory they want. The 'adding them later' idea works mostly with aggressive fish that are the same size.

I've actually seen a peacock that was pushing 10-11" I've only seen one but he was a beauty

I can't tell you the scientific name however, it was just a peacock eel. Not the striped peacock eel.
