I know this is a super old thread... Did you ever breed the black shrimps to see what came out of them?
I'm new to shrimp and just had a light greenish brown female turn opaque blue black after she became berried. This thread is the closest thing I can find to what happened to my shrimp. The pictures show the color change progression over around one week.
