Hey everyone,

I have 4 Neolamprologus brichardi (3 smaller and one larger daffidol male)...I'm guessing I have a mix of sexs but I was just wondering how old or big they have to be to start breeding. Anyone have much experience with these guys? Thanks :)

I used to keep Brichardis....I did nothing special and eventually I was taking bag fulls to the LFS. I think mine were about a year old and they just did what nature intended.

Give them loooooooooots of shells and in no time you'll be a rich man.

Thanks guys!! Shells? :P my little ones are about 2 inches :) and shells?

Mine bred in a large Muffin shell but the shell presented a small cave system because the shell was like 5" like pappy said they are substrate spawners but given the opportunity they will use a shell as well, I also had Lelupi breed in a Muffin shell actually the same shell as the Brichardi had they had a few spawns in that shell but for all purposes Lelupi and Brichardi are not shellies..

But to answer yes they can breed at 2" but its not too common and if they do it is a small brood usually at 3 to 4" they will breed larger broods..
