I have this betta - pretty small in size - but very restless and aggressive - (I was told that It's a Crown Betta (?))but I have never seen him eat - either tubifex, or flakes or pellets. Even if he does, he spits it out immediately.
What would be problem? What else can I try ?

FME bettas are extremely picky. Most of the ones I have had will only eat one type of food. In order to get them to eat I pick one type of food, and only one type and continue to feed it to them until they eat it. If they do not eat it do not worry, just clean it out. Sometimes they need a little more persuasion and so I don't feed them for a few days and then resume feeding the same food. After they start eating they will usually begin to take other things, but not all of them. HTH.

P.S. I live in mosquito country and IME i have never had one turn down a mosquito

i've tried betta pellets by HBH (or whatever it's called), dried tubifex, frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp, live bloodworms, tetramin flakes, freeze dried boodworms, baby shrimps... nothing! what else can i try?

the only thing my betta will eat is freeze dried bloodworms and peas, however he is having a swim bladder issue, so I don't offer expert advice!

AH, a Crowntail Betta ! :)

Don't worry Suby, just keep offering the same food like TW said...making sure you take out what he doesn't eat. Eventually he will eat it. Betta can actually go for weeks without eating and I imagine that he gets over his fussy attitude before that amount of time.

Holly, you may want to try and get your betta to eat something else beside FDBWs. A constant diet of those can cause constipation and swim bladder issues. Same method as discribed above in order to get him used to a betta specific pellet or flake food.

Here's a pic of a CT betta...

that's a cool CT you've got Emg :)
Mine is very similar - except that he's more darker - gradient of Black > Blue > Red. And, his crown pattern is a little different too

Well, Emg - for that you may have to wait :)
My DigiCam is out of order - and I dont see myself fixing it anytime soon.
Somehow there's a fear lurking in me that this CT isn't doing too well.
He's settled in the bottom most of the time - just comes up occasionally.
Infact I put his bowl next to the other Betta's - and this guy didnt even show any aggression - whilst the other went bonkers - strange behavior - but sufficient enough to get me worried :(

i guess i just found out WHY my betta kept spiting out the food i've been giving him! he wants me to soak the food before giving it to him!! today when i tried to feed him, first i just threw the pellet in the tank and as usual he spit it back out. then, i decided to soak the pellet first, and.... HE ATE IT!!

it might have been just coincidence, but... i'll test it tomorrow again!
