New 135g shopping cart help

So yeah I'm looking for everything to make this run. I don't know how the tops work with special lighting. Is it just your straight flip glass and the lighting is the only special part? Also this thing doesn't have the separaters so I don't know if that is a big deal =/ can I get one long top or is that not even available? Remember though I'm not into the best thing ever, just quality and affordable.

I went to some pet places on the way home and it was funny because I couldn't find one piece of hardware I could use. Nothing was rated higher than 100g and there wasn't even a refractometer lol

If the scratches aren't deep might be machine buffable with cerium oxide. I wouldn't bother doing glass top, windowscreen framing and 1/4" bird mesh will keep any jumpers in.

Sweet. It actually did come with a mesh top I just didn't think I was supposed to use that on a tank. The original guy that had it had a reptile but the guy I just got it from said he did stress test it with water.

The scratches really aren't deep. They are inside and I think his reptile just had a lot of fun or something lol. I'll look into it. I'm gonna fill it with water and put some bright light over it to see how noticeable they are. I won't worry about em if I have to actually look for them

I think once I told Greech I had a ND hat on he left =(

:) Won't lie, not ND a fan but I'm not that shallow (at least not until football season rolls around ;)).

I was going to ask about the center brace. Is there evidence that there was one there before? If so, you should look into getting a new top rim or somehow bracing the tank again. Tanks bow when filled with water and the brace is there to prevent the glass from bowing too far.

Other than a heater and maybe a HOB/cansister filter, you're not going to find much hardware at the big-box pet stores. You should look for a smaller fish store that sells saltwater fish, corals, etc. See what they carry and what they can order (maybe they'll have some used equipment or a 'For Sale' board). The other option of course is the internet if you don't have a decent LFS to rely on.

I would suggest thinking through what fish you want to keep and whether or not this will be (or eventually will be) be a reef tank. Once you have an idea of what you want to keep, you can figure out the best equipment to buy.

Yeah, if it helps I'm more of a Miami U fan (that is worse isn't it lol).

See that's the problem. I think I want a reef. I at least want the possibility of one (equipment wise). As long as I'm not too limited with the type of fish I can keep I want a reef. As far as stocking the only 2 fish I know for sure I want is some sort of clown (maybe multiples) and an emp angelfish. I will stock slowly and probably ask here. Also I will be leaving a small area of the tank kinda bare so a divider can be put in if something has babies (I know nothing about breeding in salt but I love raising fry)

No evidence of anything in he trim or rim that was there and isn't now. Bottom has very thick base and top has thick trim running all the way around

Is there going to be a lot of discrepancy with the equipment depending on what fish I keep or is it the difference between a reef and FOWLR? If that's the only real difference I want to be equipped for a reef. I'd rather have the equipment and not need it.

Also, I don't plan (right now) on having more than one large fish. I mostly like small(ish) and colorful if that makes a difference. I just don't think I will have a full stocking plan right away because there's always something new I'm seeing and I will probably stock slowly enough that I will have room to add something I like (and come on here to ask of it is compatible lol) for at least a year. Most SW fish I've liked so far are 40-100 bucks a piece so the stocking will very slow

By he way I'm not trying to be very vague on purpose. I'm pretty new to the hobby and haven't even tried SW before. I know I'm willing to put the effort in to make sore my tank is healthy so that isn't a problem I just don't know enough right now to give a stocking list on something this big. I know once I get equipment and then have the money to put toward rock and sand that's when I will probably be more interested in it. I'm hoping there isn't too much of a discrepancy with the equipment because I would rather just go over filtered with very piece of equipment I might need (not obscure things but RO/DO, UV steri, skimmer. That kind of stuff) and high light that way when the time comes I can go whatever direction I want. You know what I mean?

I just saw the emperor angel requires 220g (as said on liveaquaria) so that's out. I guess I like clowns, tangs, lions, pipes, bichirs type (is there a SW version?) obviously I don't know if they are compatible. That was just a quick rundown. I'm very interested in breeding and if a fish requires a reef for breeding I don't mind having a smaller piece of reef slightly disconnected where the tank gets divided (this is all speculation I don't even know if a reef has to be one complete piece).

So I guess a lot of fish that don't get huge so that the tank has as many inhabitants as possible with what my filtration can handle.

Obviously I will be doing research as I go and not a drop of sand or rock will go in there without a full plan. It just seems so far off ya know?

I'm doing some light searching. I'm a little weird about online stores I don't know so I'm gonna check around the forums for some suggestions because I don't buy from anywhere until I see someone say they have and it worked out. So far I've been on amazon and a few other sites and jet specifically checking protein skimmers I'm getting proces from under 100 all the way up to 500.

This work

Any good? Work in a sump? I'd like to keep most of my hardware underneath.

Im guessing I might not need a wet/dry and a sump because of the live rock and sand's filtration capabilities? Is it worth it to still have the wet/dry just to make sure I'm filtered as much as I want (I probably won't buy I have a tendency to feel like I'm not overstocked when I might be pushing it)?

Just trying to get the ball rolling and get some reference items. I'm sure I'm gonna learn a lot along the way here so I gotta start somewhere. I might throw in a couple more reference products for you guys to either praise or offer an alternative XD
