New 135g shopping cart help

If you want various light cycles, say with a T5 setup you'll want fixtures with multiple switches, so you could kill your white lights and have a couple actinics running, then have them go out and have a blue LED's running. If the fixture has no LED's thats no big deal you can get a couple connectable LED's for around $50 from marine depot. Then Home Depot for a power strip with multi programable outlets.

BTW even though the LED's are considered night time lights, I'd consider them your evening viewing lights and have them go out late in the evening.

If you were using an in-sump skimmer it would be best to put it where the drain from the tank empties into the sump. Skimmers are mechanical filtration so the closer they are to where the waste enters in the sump, the better IMO.

You sure you want a UV? Maybe invest in a QT system instead? Prevention is better than dealing with parasites, etc once in your system. A UV will definitely make your water clear though :).

Gotcha. By chance have any references for places to buy by chance? You said T5, does that mean that's all I need to look for or am I still buying specific bulb with a xxxxK rating? I've seen people say 'oh I have a 10000k what type of lighting is that' and don't really understand it

Yeah all I knew is it killed algae and stuff. I definitely don't want its purpose to replace proper QT'ing but I am interested in keeping the water clear as can be

Bulk Reef Supply sells good bulbs, ATI, and Geismann are two good bulb makers. I have no particular preferances for places to buy I usually do a google search and see whos cheapest. It'll be easier to recomend particular bulbs once you settle on the fixture, 4 bulb vs a 8 bulb fixture I'd have different choices. The old traditional way was to use 10000k-14000k bulbs mixed with actinics but you have more choices now a days.

Its good for treating/preventing green water algae but it doesnt really do jack for any other types of algae in a tank. Purigen and Chemipure elite will keep your water clear as well.

Great so I'll pass on that for now. This is the only one fixture for T5 lighting at BRS.

http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store...es/sunlight-supply-tek-light-t5-fixtures.html

It mentions holes for hanging. I'd prefer not to do anything that involves hanging from my ceiling or my walls. Is that avoidable? The fixture for my size with 8 bulbs is $600... I don't know that I could ever afford even the 4 bulb one. Lighting might put this project down hard

Also, what sort of RO/DI system am I looking for? Can I get by with the 4 stage or do I need to look at 5 and 6 stage (big proce jump)?

The Tek's can also be used with mounting legs.

You looking at the BRS RODI economy 4 stage for $129? Its a good unit, doesn't include the TDS meter though so factor in $20-25 more dollars for that. IMO the $199 Plus is a pretty good deal as it gives the extra stage, includes dual tds meter, pressure gauge, and the flush kit.

Sweet well I think I'm square for the moment. Keep an eye out for more questions but after seeing the price of that fixture if I can't find an awesome price or someone willing to take payments I might be screwed =/
