New 30 gal setup

I wouldn't get a T5HO (High Output) light for a cichlid tank unless you want algae..

What would you recommend then? Found very few options for 48" fixture in the price range I am looking for.

If you are just looking for illumination, I think you could get some 4 foot shop lights for cheap, thought I'm not sure how bring it would be..

This can't look tacky...This tank isn't going into a bed room, it is going in a very large and nice Formal dinning room...Sitting on top of a very nice and antique buffet. It is not going to be up against wall, the buffet is around 24-36 wide so I can place the tank in the center and have plenty of room behind it to hide the canister.

Yeap, it is a nice price but I need something with legs... This is for a 55gal tank and it has that center support beam. If legs were available for this strip light then that would be a sweet deal. Unless there is an alternative?

I think there are legs made for those. Or, it could be fun building one. Another idea is to hang them, that way it would look really sweet. There are bunch of things on Big Als that you can hang the lights in.

You can take out the Actinic light, but not sure how that would change how your fish look. I find actinic lights makes things pop more especially with iridescent fishies.

I just set up a 48" T5 Coralife strip for the size and being so thin and powerful i love mine, also i wouldn't remove the actinic at all gives the deeper blue sheen which looks good on Cichlids..

My Tang tank has 10,000K and Actinic and i wouldn't have it any other way, place a Rhino pleco in the tank i have one in each tank they love the algae..

Thanks Pit, also how is that Rhino doing and had it gotten very large. Before I got my BN I was advised to get the rhino because they stay semi small, then several months later I saw a pic of an adult and it was fairly large.

I am not planning on planting much of anything in this tank, well because there really isn't much plants to choose from..for a Tang tank that is.

I am not looking for a BRIGHT BRIGHT tank, I want like pit said a "deeper blue sheen"
