New 30 gallon planted tank build.

I apologize for my quadruple post, but I'd figure youd rather have multiple replies then nothing. Last comment, you only have two panda cories? Your first fish should be 4 more panda cories then, since they do a lot better in a school and school by the 1000s in the wild. With java ferns, Ive read they propagate? by having the leaf that the little plantlets are attached to rot and die off. My javas always looked awful, and I *think* thats why, or maybe my water chemistry was wrong. Either way, I recommend against java ferns from my personal experience as they never looked nice, you may have better luck though. I dont have any recommendations for easy carpet plants, but I really would focus on getting stem plants to fill in the background as they are fast growers, which is good for impatient people ;) and would really make the tank look nice. :D 6 cories and ghost shrimp make a good "clean up" crew, but I wouldnt count bn plecos as a clean up fish, since they wont help eat leftover fish food most times. :)

What are the tank dimensions? Maybe it's me but that doesn't look like a 30 gallon, at least not the standard 36", not sure why it just dawned on me now but the dimensions are a bit off...looks more like a 20 high or maybe a 29 gallon based on the height vs. length. I only say this because it definitely plays a factor in what you can stock.

I have a 5 gallon bucket that I filled up 6 times when I first filled it so it's definitely a 30 gallon, but I'll get you the dimensions either tonight or tomorrow just to make sure.

Thank you so much. I will admit that I am a little impatient, lol. I just want to have a nice planned aquarium now! All jokes aside thank you for the response. I'll do more research on the ferns and something to replace them with. I'm sorry I do have 4 Corys not 2. So I'll look into getting 2 more. Thanks again. Anybody have a comment on the swords?

Edit: Also I don't care about the multiple posts, lol. I just appreciate all the information you gave me.

Very possible you have a 29 gallon, which isn't as long as a standard 30. The dimensions will give you a more accurate number though.

I do disagree about the java fern though...I've had healthy leaves pop off daughter plants without affecting the mother plant at all.

I read the thing about the leaves rotting off the mother plant for the plantlets to fall off in a really old library book, like 1970 or 80, so very good chance the information was outdated. If you have three standard pieces of computer paper or spiral notebook, you can use that for a ball park measurement if you dont have a ruler. :)

Okay I'll post the dimensions in the morning.

Sorry I haven't posted the dimensions yet. I've been in the hospital with my girlfriend. We just had our first baby!!! I'll post the dimensions as soon as I get home.
