New 30 gallon planted tank build.

Maybe, depending on what you're lacking in there, and what's in the tabs. I hesitate to say for sure that it's a nutrient deficiency. I'm not all that knowledgeable about plants and their ill health symptoms.

I bought some Seachem flourish tabs. I've read in many different planted tank forums that they work really well for the swords.

"I also have a few leaves on my swords that are really brown and thin like the picture below. Should I trim those off or leave them alone?"

Those are very likely emerse grown leaves that die out when the plant is submerged. Trim them and get rid of them, They will not grow back, they will not get green again, they will just continue to rot no matter how much ferts (liquid or tabs) that you add.

The root tabs were for the swords overall health, not just for those leaves, but I really appreciate the feedback. Will trim them when I get home from work. I tried Google for the answer, but didn't find anything on leaves that look specifically like this. Thanks again for the advice

It's a lot more clear now, still a slight brown tint, but I'm confident that it will go away fairly quickly. I also trimmed the plants. Thanks for all your help. I'll post a picture when I get home a little later. You guys are awesome and I wouldn't be where I'm at right now without your help. Thanks.

Looks great. I havent kept up with this thread so im wondering if the brown tint is from the driftwood or the substrate? If its tannis, some fish actually like this because those fish ( such as neons, rams, and other tetra species) are blackwater fish and tannis will make them more comfortable. I love how large the leaves are on your plants, btw.

Thanks. I wish the swords looked better. Hopefully they will make a good comeback now that there's root tabs in there. I'm trying to complete the cycle and the setup of my tank with out losing and fish or plants. So far so good. I'm just worried about the swords

It's the clearest I've ever seen it since this whole mess began! I'm excited to see it this clear! My phone isn't wanting to upload the picture I took so I'll post it when I get home.

Why are the leaves so brown? Do they have "dirt" on them from the substrate? If so, try to clean it off. You should just be able to swish the water around the leaves. It will probably cloud up the water again but your filters should be able to clear that up and without the film on the leaves, they'll be able to photosynthesize much better.
