New 30 gallon planted tank build.

you could vac the inside of the filter or just disconnect temporarily and rinse the inside of the filter itself in the tub or sink BUT not the inserts so you don't lose your bacteria

Okay after I get the tetra set up then I'll do that. That sounds good, lol.

But see what's dirty is the part where the filter media holder sits in not the actual media holder itself.

So swish some water around in it and pour it out.

Alright guys, this is what she looks like with the purigen and chemi-pure in my aquaclear and the tetra setup. This is the quickest it's cleared up since I've been battling this cloudiness.

I also have a few leaves on my swords that are really brown and thin like the picture below. Should I trim those off or leave them alone?

The second filter is helping get the particulate out of the water faster. That's a step in the right direction.

Cool thanks, but what about the sword leaves I mentioned earlier?

In that picture, I'd think you're facing some kind of nutrient deficiency, so not addressing that would simply bandaid the problem. However, that could also be a result of the crap in the water, and it may look different when it's clear again.

Well I just put some root tabs in the tank too. So that should help out with the nutrient deficiency right?

Maybe, depending on what you're lacking in there, and what's in the tabs. I hesitate to say for sure that it's a nutrient deficiency. I'm not all that knowledgeable about plants and their ill health symptoms.
