I would LOVE to have a tank with some green tiger barbs...they are a very cool looking and pretty little fish. They remind me of the SW damsels..which I also have a liking for. But what on earth can you keep with the barbs that wouldn't get pecked to death by them eventually ???
If I had a 55 I would set it up as a planted community with a small group of discus.....and I would then have to look into keeping a CO2 system on it...lol....so far I've avoided that necessity simply by having smaller tanks and using the flourish excel....
But you are wanting an aggressive tank...hhmm.....gee, everyone goes for cichlids when they want aggressive tanks.........hey, I saw a very cool looking birchir today (I think that's what it was, the store didn't have it labeled properly) ! What a neat looking fish...sort of resembles prehistoric salamander or something. The one I saw looked like an albino, it was a pinkish white color. I think you could do some of those in a 55...but someone who knows more about them would have to tell you for sure. That would be different and interesting Yourwar, though I don't know how aggressive they are.
