I will say (since I have it in my bedroom on my 29G) that the AquaC Remora is LOUD. Very loud.. by far the loudest thing on the tank. On the other side of the scale, my Bubble Magus NAC7 skimmer on my 75G is dead silent. My Vortech MP40w is by far the loudest thing on my 75G tank... soooo loud (annoying whine sound from the motor on the outside) that I am seriously contemplating getting rid of it in favor of some Tunze powerheads.

Most skimmers today use bubble plates vs the old style of Ventris which make a big difference in noise levels, bubble plates being very quiet.. loudest thing on bubble plates is the pump, which if it has a good one is also silent. The ventri method there really is no way to make it quiet.

is this an in sump skimmer only? if so i'll just get the reef octopus you recommended earlier.

That skimmer you linked is internal or external, but both methods require a sump normally. It is NOT a HOB skimmer though.. that would weigh too much.

Gotta question for you guys.

Came home today and saw a bunch of white dots on my glass. I took a closer look and they look like extremely small starfish. they all have a center white dot and then most have 5 thin legs that are almost transparent with a white tint to them. Probably atleast 100-200 on the glass.
in the tank i have a couple brittle stars ive seen that came with live rock, an orange linkia star, and a feather star.

Anyone know what they are?

I tried taking a picture but they are way too small and the camera won't even focus on them.

Hydroids are a type of jellyfish... so they sting things. Bob Fenner doesn't seem to think they are bad though.

They are bad, especially if they contact anything. I'm finally paring down my digitate hydroids, which thrive on the amount of food I feed.
