I have not kept discus but have considered doing so when I have more experience.

Discus are very, very sensitive fish and pristine water is required for keeping them.

Discus are actually easy to keep. It's just that they are very prone to stunting and health issues once the water quality deteriorates. Don't worry they can excrete lots of wastes if they pig out on lots of food.
