IMG_3558.pngI am going to get this tank off marketplace tomorrow after work. I know it needs a new filter and a new heater. I’m looking for the best for both best bang for your buck on both a filter and a heater for the size tank. I know the hexagon tanks can get a little funky. What would you guys recommend I’m doing a freshwater set up.

Unfortunately, I'm a big fan of keeping fish that live at room temperature rather than having a heater. I've heard good things about Hygger though.

I can't remember the lengths of the sides of that aquarium, so that might really hurt your choices in what you use, as well as what might fit with a lid if you are planning to use one especially regarding a hang on back filter .

Personal preference is always for a canister filter to keep everything away from the aquarium normally what you are used to would be my preference otherwise fluval or oase work well in my experience.

You can always use an air powered sponge filter if you like .

Personally I'm going to be setting up a ~45g aquarium without a heater and an Oase Biomaster filter.

I dont mind doing a canister its just been forever and I have no idea what is good anymore and what quality changes may have happened. what size Oase Biomaster filter would you recommend?

Lots has changed ... Especially prices of everything.

I would personally look at the 350.. on paper the 250 is rated for up to 70g, but I prefer more flow and more media space, it also gives a bit of room for upgrading your aquarium in the future if you like.
