Thanks for all the comments everyone! I replaced the 10,000K bulbs with the 6500K lights. The tank DOES have more of a yellow hue to it, but if the plants do better I'm ok with that.

I use API CO2 booster every day, and now am seriously considering building a CO2 injection system for both the plants' benefit and to satisfy my hobbyist desire. That will be another thread though.

I installed the Aqua Clear 20 on the back of the tank, and immediately loved the change in aesthetics alone. No more dirty, out-of-place turtle filter inside the tank. I also love the fact that the AC20 is pretty customizable as far as you aren't restricted to cartridges or using only a certain media in your filter. I have it set to its lowest flow setting, about 33gph, so Reggie doesn't get blown away by the flow.

I bought some stony river pebbles and created a "path" leading from the front of the tank to inside the "cave" that the driftwood forms. I'm hoping that will really look nice once the Cryptocoryne Wendtii grow to full size.

I've gotten some comments in my workplace about how ridiculous it is for a Betta to have a 20 gallon tank, but oh well. Reggie likes it, and it allows me to get better at creating a planted tank!

Thanks again for the kind words.
