Hello,

Just got all registered for this site and am amazed at the amount of marine aquarium info now available online. Much different from the days when I first started keeping marines.

I started keeping marine fish about 10 years ago, but have only recently set up my tank again after a 5 year lay-off from fishkeeping. So, although I am not really a beginner, I sure feel like one after checking out the wealth of new information available online now. I have set my tank up the way it used to be, but will be "modernizing" a bit over the next 6 months or so.

The first think I'd like to replace is my old 18" high venturi skimmer. (I have no idea who made it). Any suggestions in the $250 range including pump and no more than 21" tall?

Thanks!

Welcome to AC! To answer your question, I believe that Remora make a skimmer that is less than 21" tall and costs in the neighborhood of $200. I am going by memory there, so I may be off a little.

I would rather hide it under the tank, but....
I can hang one off the back if necessary,I looked at the red sea hangons and they seem OK.
What I am thinking of, is a large skimmer (with large pump_ 1200gph), like a canister filtier, set under the tank, an in and out line to the tank, no sump, that won't overflow when the power goes off...

Thanks,

clay

The pump I mentioned is probibly not the pump described. Apololgies to all manufactures.
Now, sell me a good 1200gph pump for $200.
