New Peacock eel---now WHAT do I do???

If youre *really* worried about your eel starving, you could always target feed with a turkey baster or something similar. Good way to do this (this is how I feed carnivorous bottom-dwellers):

I buy the frozen stuff. Brine shrimp, blood worms, etc. Defrost the food in a little cup with tank water. Suck it into the turkey baster and let it drop out of the end near your eel (squeezing the baster too hard will worry some animals, so I'm just patient and let gravity do its thing).

ok, well it's day 2, and good news. he's been out and about moving around and such. he does have 'his little spot' though. i have a piece of slate leaned closely against the back wall of the tank, and i have a blue fade backdrop on it, so it fits snuggly in between there where it cant be seen by anything...other than me squinting and trying my best to see it from the side of the tank.

Well, I tried to get it to eat tubifex last night, it didnt work...but maybe that's because it was just too stressed. Ill try again, and if no results come of it, I'll go to the pet-store for some bloodworms...maybe my brine will work?

Alrighty, just got back home.

Now, he's justa chillin inside of a conk shell...still wont eat though...but he's finally showing signs of a semi-settled in fish.

I dunno what to try and feed him though...suggestions?

my striped peacock eats ghost shrimp. he gets them about 2-3 times a month and only eats one or two of the 30 i give him, but the other eels eat 4-5 at a time. i will go out on a limb and say he also eats the remains of the pellets and tablets that i feed my catfish, because i rarely see him eat, but hes grown quite a bit since i got him many many months ago.

hmmm....what other kinds of eels you got?

what would some of you recommend....eel-wise.

i have 2 zig-zag eels and a tiretrack eel as well. from what i understand though, my tiretrack may become agressive as he gets larger. hes only about 7" now but will grow to about 32-36"

i dont think zig-zag's are agressive, but they grow to the same sizes as the tiretrack (although mine are tiny... 4-6")

peacocks seem quite friendly and grow to around 18" and striped peacocks are the same in attitude and get around 12"

haha, mine are way too small for that now though...forgot to mention i got another.... :o
