Lol, the conversations you can hear! I think everyone has at least one story about clueless people buying fish. My favorite was the guy who started picking out fish like they were gumballs, ‘I want one of these, one of those, and two of these..’ He had already picked out a few livebearers and had moved onto cichlids when the lady pulling the fish stopped him after he asked for two baby Oscars and an electric lab. From the little I could over hear he had just set-up a 20 gallon and really wanted Oscars because they ate live fish and it would be cool to watch…*sigh* To her credit she quickly put a stop to his buying, explained compatibility/ size issues and sent him home with just a few of the livebearers …he was NOT happy when he left the store…Wishful said:The last time I was in there was a moron in there allowing his girlfriend to pick out a new fish for his saltwater tank based on which one she thought was "cute". She was trying to decide between a clown, a damsel and a lionfish. I left before hearing whether the "nemo" or "the blue one that would match my vase" won out. The lionfish was lucky and got bumped off the list for being too expensive.
I know that recently my local Petco was upgraded to an "aquatic superstore"(A somewhat exaggerated title) and has an equal number of salt and freshwater tanks. Though I don't know much about SW, it looks like they take pretty good care of the fish, as I never see any dead carcasses in there.DeRo316 said:Never heard of a chain selling saltwater fish, that would just be horrible.
