New Pleco Won't Stop Moving

Veggies are an important part of a plecos diet; I push an algae wafer and some cichlid sticks into a peice of cucumber and feed that to my plecos after the lights have gone out.

I have two rubberlips in my tank and one of them is a lot more active than the other. smaller one comes out of his hiding spot with lights on now but the bigger is still shy. when I first put them in they were going to town on the glass too but now i can barely see them there. they usually graze on my background now.
as far as food goes they love blanched zucchini.

i put the cucumber in and hes just sucking the wall right next to it lol.
what about avocado? i have some. but already put the cuke in there. for future reference, do they like avocado? its pretty soft compared to the cucumber

You mentioned that the tank is only just getting inhabitants? In a 10 gallon you're going to REALLY want to be careful with overfeeding stuff for the pleco. He can deal with being hungry much better than he'll deal with ammonia.

As to the avocado, there's a whole list of foods at planetcatfish.com in an article about feeding plecos.

Also, if you cant get him to eat veggies, i've read in lots of places that if you soak the food in garlic, and/or push his normal ration (suck as algae wafers or shrimp pellets) into the veggie, they will be more likely to explore it. This hasn't entirely worked on mine yet, but theyre stubborn, and seem to prefer meat over veggies.

However, if he keeps playing, and his tummy isnt concave (if it IS concave, it would mean that hes starving), and he doesn't lose weight, he may just be enjoying playing.

barbie, he was put into a 20 gallon that i recently planted and i didnt add all the inhabitants at once. i put the cucumber in and he still pays no mind to it. thank you for the link
silly, yeah ive heard about the garlic thing. im going to try it out.. but he didnt go for the algae wafers either, which had garlic in them. hm. i cant see his belly right now(lights are off), but ill check tomorrow morning

When I put my (usually very shy) BN into her new tank she literally came alive - an extremely active (and now fat) little fish!
