New shots... SE Asian and African biotope tanks

Thanks for the kind words cf! Your tanks make we want to go heavily planted....

Thanks DrVader - I got my glosso on and will be posting some updated pics later this week - be sure to check them out.

Also, where did you get those stands and hoods? My wife is much the same - if we are going to put a tank in the living room it has to look nice (I already showed her the pics of your dual tanks and how great they looked - BTW, she said "absolutely" no way to 2 tanks - lol).

Dayum that is cool. Love the night light lol my night light is daylight

I'll be looking for the shots! I understand this is one of the hardest undertakings in freshwater possible; max. props!

We ordered the tanks and stands from the LFS (I try to support local business here when possible). The tanks and stands are both from Aqueon:

I have been very pleased with them so far. The cherry finish seems totally impervious to water; the inevitabl drips/spills are a non-issue. My wife and I agreed on one tank initially as well. Three weeks later we picked up the 90 gallon tall LOL.

Thanks again all for the comments!

So the Gold Head Comps arrived from LiveAquaria.com the other day. All three were great looking specimens.... problem is they are basically jumbo fry! All are fiesty, beautiful, and approximately less than 0.5 inches in total length.

This size is certainly not what I expected (or what was advertised online) so a quick call in to customer service resulted in a no-questions asked refund. This is why I like doing business with this company.

Naturally, I added them to the tank nonetheless, and prayed that the bichir wouldn't promptly turn them in to live feeders. A testament to how strong these fish are, they are taking NO lip from the bichir, and all three seem to be doing very well on their second full day in the tank. There is plenty of rockwork for them (especially at this size) so they seem perfectly content to scuffle a bit amongst themselves and eat.

I'd post shots but my camera doesn't take close-ups well and these guys are small....
