I have been keeping tropical fish for many years (mostly Discus and Phiranha). I have a 48 gallon tank which I would like to convert to a marine tank.
My LFS has suggested the follwing to do the following to convert my tank. They will remove the internal filter and drill a 43m Hole in the right hand corner. The pipe work is 32m and takes the water to the Trickle filter in the right cabinet. This is filled with Bio Balls. The water flows from the right cabinet to the left via a 32m pipe. The Return pump an Ehiem 1250 fits in the sump as does the Ratz Protien skimmer. The water is pumped back to the tank with 20m pipe. The heater 300W is in the tank. Two Power heads are fitted in the tank to give water. Two Zoom tubes 10K are fitted. 10kg live sand and 20kg live rock.
Please let me know if anything is needed from this set up and what stocking levels you would suggest, I will appreciate it if you can give me your thoughts on fish selection.
