New tank with new pictures! :)

it wasnt propperly cycled because of lack of space to have two very large aquariums set up at the same time. it was a very difficult arangement and i did the very best i could to make things as smooth as i could concidering the conditions. i didnt really post for fanatical *******s to sling mud at me though, i just wanted to share some pictures and ask a couple questions. i do understand a good portion of how things work and i do my best to follow any guidelines i can manage to follow. my fish have started growing pretty well and in trying to be somewhat of a good care-taker, i upgraded to something that would support their adult sizes. yes, i could have thought a little more into the whole situation before starting the original tank, sure. but i didnt... that was my bad. doing the best i could to correct for the original bad judgements was to drop somewhere around $1000 to acomidate my friends and do all i could to get things switched over w/o doing anything i knew would seriously hurt anyone.

i work seasonaly and am currently unemployed, so its not like i just yanked $800 for a new tank setup out of my sock, and another $200 or so for structure and filtration/heat out of my hat.

so anyways, if youre going to give me a detailed step by step instruction sheet here, go ahead and ill try to live up to your standards next time, but i did everything i could this go-round.
thanks for pointing and laughing, have a great day,
~KM

thanks very much, i appriciate it, and like i said previously, i know i did a few things wrong and took some unavoidable shourtcuts, but everyone is doing good :)

no loss from the move.

i got a few more pieces of structure today, another slab of slate to overhang more of my pvc caves, a very large bushy plant that is anchored to the bottom but has one really long vine that clusters and drifts at the top, and a small fern like plant that suctions to the top glass. looks pretty nice, lets see if i can get a pic or two here...

oh, and if you look at some of those, you can see i also put a 23" bubble wand in the center, back, bottom under the 500 watt titanium heater i just got.

i planned on (as advised here) also using another heater to balance things out, but with the room temp at about 72F and the heater set for 77F the water is staying at about 76-77F without the heater hardly ever coming on. so i think im good as far as heat. im running 2 300gph spillovers right now and think ill get a small canister eventually, we'll see how things work out for a month or two first.

Lol...that would be kind of hard with it up against the wall and already filled....I have found that it's soooooo much easier to put the back grounds on before you fill it up and set it against the wall. But I occasionally still make the mistake of forgetting that when I set up a new tank...lol..

Try online Foof.....I did see a site somewhere with backgrounds...hmmm...just have to remember where....AH ! Try this place Foof...

By the way...I like that idea of having the fern hanging from the top of the glass...very original !

A couple of pieces of poster board fitted together may work as well. My background is currently plain old brown cardboard and honestly, it doesn't look too bad. I may switch to dark blue or black later one, we'll see.
