Looks nice. Both fish will need a larger tank for their benefit and yours.

Yeah i have a 55 gallon im going to upgrade to in acouple weeks after i build my bearded dragons tanks

Looks great. 29's are a nice size. You cycled the tank before adding fish hopefully? You've got a means to measure water parameters?

The set up looks nice, but the bubbles and your statement of "today I set up" give me pause - did you truly just set the tank up or did you mean that today you added fish after cycling the tank over the last several weeks? Are you familiar with either of the fish you chose and their expected mature size and tank requirements?

That's what I was thinking too. Those air bubble bands on the inside make it look like a brand-new, out of the box tank, that just had water added.

I don't know that either of those fish is a good pick. The JD is going to get to big. It's also going to get too aggressive and will likely kill the chinese algae eater. If it doesn't kill the algae eater, then the algae eater will get large enough that it no longer eats algae and will suck on the slime from the Dempsey either killing it or stressing it to the point where it'll die.

Glad I'm not the only one that paused at seeing the bubbles, and wondered. I think the only time I've seen that was on a tank that was filled for the first (at least first after a long period of being dry) time.

Yeah i just set it up put that safe fish stuff you put in the water i left the filter running for like an hour before i put them in. I have no experience with fish other than my betta that ate everything that went in its tank. I did read up a little on the jack dempsey and im getting some fresh water shrimp today to feed him, And i have little alge pellets i can feed the other one. I know the jack dempsey gets huge they had a display adult and they do best alone. I have a 55 gallon i can upgrade to in a month or two if that will work?
