Thanks for all the welcomes, I ended up with the 6 gallon. I was slightly impatient to get started and the few stores I went to only had glass so I went with the acrylic Marineland eclipse 6 gallon. its quite pretty and fits very nicely on my desk. I can't get over the quietness of it... people probably pay a lot of money for the soothing water sound that I get!
