New To The Saltwater

Yea im starting to get that SW is way more quality or quantity. What about Pom Pom Crabs? They stay small and have a nice temperament.

With the water, Can i buy lots and store it in a good temperature room? I live in South Austin and Aquatek is a good 40 minute drive. I just dont think I can do that when my tank gets low.

I know very little about crabs.

As far as water, I've got three 5 gallon jugs. Two with salt and 1 with RO water. Like I said, I need RO water about once every two or three weeks. I have to put in about a quart a day to keep up with evaporation. The salt is really for an emergancy water change. Whenever I do a regular water change, I go buy saltwater as soon as I can afterward.

RO water is Reverse Osmosis water. You can store RO water for a while, juts keep it in a dark place or in a colored jug to block the light. Also keep it sealed up. If you plan to store SW, you would at least want to keep it mixed using a small pump/powerhead. Calcium may precipitate out if you leave it sitting unmixed.

If you get fully cured LR, you may not seem much (if any) cycle. This will decrease the amount of time you will need to wait before adding livestock. The only way this is really going to happen is if you can get the fully cured rock locally and you keep it submerged from point A to B over a short trip. If you have a long way to go, you would need some flow as well to keep the bacteria alive. Don't plan on getting anything fully cured online because it will have some die off before it gets to you.

Either way you go, I recommend you invest in some test kist and make sure your water is right before you start adding things.

Yea i will definately be testing my water before adding any critters, I have heard different things on whether treated water is ok. What are yalls opinion on RO vs Treated?
