Newbie with a Fresh Water tank

Ok awesome, thanks for the tip, yeah I’ll head down to my LFS to find some other live plants that would fit the script. There’s that glass catfish I think it’s called, the see through one, how are they with my mix of pets?

What plants can you suggest, would be awesome to see, my wife is looking for more blue and red coloured plants.

But I’m not ready for the heavy fertilizing and what not, just wanna throw it in there and let it do its thing. Lol

I'm sorry, your mix of fish is going to cause no end of trouble. Kissers are, at best a PITA; SAE can be too, in a too small tank.

YES! work on more "easy" plants...but I'm not sure what "blue" plants might be, ahem, for sale, wherever, lol, be careful...

Haha, yeah, it’s gonna be quite an experience, but even in photos you can kinda see them all just chilling. Lol

And yes, my wife is hopeful. Lol. They should crossbreed at least lol. And I’ll check out a few lfs’s see what they have

I agree with Freshy and Fishorama. Your stocking list will lead to problems at some point. Gouramies are very territorial. I have one in my 55g and wont add any more (powder blue dwarf). They may start out peaceful but as they settle in and establish territories problems will arise. Have a back up plan :)

Lighting is going to be hard in your tank. You're going to need some very intense lighting to get the proper requirements down low. I ran into this problem with a 20g x high tank. I could not get plants to grow what soever. Switching my tank to a 10g yielded far better results for growing.

You could combat this by placing plants such as java fern or moss up high such as Freshy suggested. Its hard to suggest plants without knowing your lighting setup. Good luck and keep us posted!

Yeah, I haven’t gone to the fish store yet. I will later today or tomorrow, and is it possible to stick the plants on my rocks?

And it’s weird that lfs workers are less knowledgeable than forums. That’s why I ended up here on AC, haha

It depends on plant species. Mosses, java fern, anubias like to attach to rocks, wood, etc. There is lots more. They are all low light species.

What is the lighting in your tank? Are you using led's? Incandescent bulbs?

Alright. I tested the water and these are my results: Ph 7.4, ammonia 0.50 ppm, nitrite 0 nitrate 0
