Is it okay to use Amquel Plus or is that the same thing????

As long as your not using bio - spira, it's a good water conditioner.

Do I still need to do regular water changes with the babies in there???

Yup, water testing, H20 changes, water testing, H20 changes...

Thanks Dorkfish and Roan. I sure love getting advice. That's how you learn right???? My water params before the change this morning were the exact same after. Does that make any sense to you guys at all???? Ammonia was .25. nitrites were 2 and Nitrates were 40 or 80. I have trouble deciding exactly which one it is sometimes. I'm positive about the ammonia and nitrites may have been between 2 and 5 still. I did a 50% change. The Nitrites are up in the platy fry tank to. I'm gonna go change their water to.

Thank You Both :hi:

Hello!

I also wanted to ask about my filter again. Is the aquatech that came on my 55 a good filter. I've been told I need to put another one on the other side? What do you guys think? Is it better to do that , leave it alone or get a bio-wheel or what???????? Can you tell I haven't a clue?

OH BOY GO FIGURE!!!!!!!!!

I was just reading another post on here and it would appear that I may have made another mistake last night. Okay so I replaced my carbons in my filter.......... I was afraid there might have been something bad on there causing problems. Please tell me I haven't screwed up my cycle!!!!!!!! I will not be a happy camper if after all this time fighting this I just started it all over again  Now I know that I should've put a sponge in there and I will get that taken care of ASAP. :rant2:

Stop berating yourself; we all make mistakes. I made a LOT when I was starting out and it's part of the learning process.

Count to 10, give yourself a hug, and leave the filter alone next time ;)

Thanks Roan. I actually had success with the fry tank. The nitrites went to zero after the change. They were only up for a day or two. As soon as I did the water change in there it helped. That is so strange that it's not helping in my 55 though. Oh well. Maybe I have an ornament or something in there that's causing me grief. It's all fish tank supplies with the acception of some little glass pieces (like the ones they sale my the fish supplies) that were given to me.

I hate to keep asking this, but I will :joke:

Does anyone have any idea if I need another or a different filter for my 55 gallon tank. It's a walmart tank with an aquatech filter on it. Someone has told me that I need another one for the other side. I didn't know if maybe I just need a penguin or emporer or something else. ANy ideas guys.........

 Thanks!!!!!!!!
