Sorry, long title, but it needs to be in order to express my reaction when I found out that ****Plus (my least favorite pet/fish store) now owns and runs the former Captain Nemo's Aquarium Superstore :eek3:. They're dumping half the tanks :mad2:, bringing in all sorts of new pets, and remodeling which means that the store will be closed for 1 week or so. I've only had bad experiences with ****Plus and fish recently (walked in and found the single most despicable fish section I've ever seen.... wouldn't buy from them to save my life), so I now have one less place I want to A) shop, and B) work at. However, I did get some nice rocks and a Coral Banded Shrimp (SW) for 50% off (all items 40%, livestock 50%, tanks 30%, rocks 50%) so it wasn't a total loss. I just hope (for the fishes sake) that they are all sold before the end of Sunday... :(

If a mod finds it necessary to remove the "big-box-store" name from my post, feel free to do so. If such happens and you want to know what store, PM me.

personally I found the place had gone steadily downhill since it was big Al's

livestock looked less and less healthy, space was taken from aquarium dry goods to other pets.

I applaud all they did to get kids interested, but I would have stopped even looking in if it were not for the vicinity to ikea, whole foods and that sandwich store in the same strip mall.

oh well.

Well, they've been the only fish store around that wasn't a petco, petsplus, of petsmart.... unless you know of others within 1/2 an hour drive?

If you want someone to do your research for you, I believe that I can make it from Conshohocken to the hidden reef in half an hour, give or take.

Considered taking your hard earned $$$ to a mail order vendor... or even better joining a local aquarium society?

or make a special trip to somewhere more than 30 mins away sometime, you'll be surprised what other options you might have,

Top: Hidden Reef, thanks for the store name.

Middle: Well, I do plan to start buying from Forster&Smith more then actual pet stores now. And LiveAquaria.

Bottom: My parents drive me at this point (I'm getting there) so they don't want to drive much. My dad won't even drive me to most places 15 min away, he thinks fishkeeping is a waste of money and time. So I can't exactly just hop in a car and drive myself, I need one of them (permit only) with me.

So,

did they reopen yet?

how are the changes?

I haven't had a chance to stop by, but I should be able to make the time tonight.

Saturday, supposedly.
