not sure what this is on the catfish

Got a sick raphael right after I dosed prazipro- now both of my stripped raphael has it. I'm not even sure how they got it if I had the tank go through 3 different doses of prazipro- after introducing my jaguar catfish in the tank now that they started to show this bumps- its only on their white stripe portions and nothing else part of their body is affected only this one also has a strange bump on its top fin.

I hope this is treatable.

should I go for Jungle Lab Pond Fizz Parasite Treatment?

or just plain 'ol metro?
 
Adomimal dropsy can be cause by both viral and bacterial infections.

If it is bacterial you will need to treat the fish with a good gram-negative antibiotic. Marycin II, Tetracyclin, and Erythromycin will all work. Since the fish have external lesions treating the water with malachite green and keeping the water very clean help fight off secondary infections.

If the fish have a viral infection the only treatment possible is to keep the water very clean and to remove any stressors from the tank.

As you don't know if it is viral or bacterial I suggest you treat for the bacteria and hope for the best. At this point a 50/50 change is very optimistic.
 
I really cant tell from pic if it is dropsy at all.

HOw big is Jaguar Cat and Rafael Cats?
Since this stated after adding Jaguar Catfish, could it be wound/secondary infection (?) caused by Jaguar Cat?

How about isolating Jaguar from Rafael for a while and monitor if these symptoms heal/disappear on their own.

The problem lies is with the malachite green is that it's harmful to the scaleless fish is it not? I've been told not to even try when I have Jaguar catfish in the tank as well.

Yep, pristine water is much needed for the catfish though I just added strip lights after 2 months of using NO light strip so that was probably what triggered the stress.

the 3 jaguar catfish are at at least 5-6'' while the raphaels are at 7'' and 11'' that's the ones thats affected.

the 11'' has the solid lateral line of the bump like the description while this picture is on the 7'' as that was the one I could catch easier for the most obvious reason of its size being smaller.
 
11" Raphael Cat? Super Raphael Cat, LOL.
Never have grown neither striped nor spotted Raphaels to 11".
How long did you have and in what size tank?

If memory serves, Jaguars dont get large either, not like Red Tail Cat, but as carnivorous as Red Tail Cat trying to suck up whatever it can..

As I mentioned before, I cant recognize the symptoms conclusively from the pics.
I would still try isolating Jaguars and monitor the symptoms.

Do you think the symptoms you described is getting worse?
 
The raphael at 11'' is 10-12 years old or so, then the 7'' raphael is at least 4 years old I've been told by its old owner (I'm starting to find out age is not the factor in how big they are- I just picked up a 3'' spotted that's only 3'' long at the most that's proven to be 12 years old and I have a spotted raphael that's 7'' easily at 10 or so years old)


they're in the 80 g tank.

Jaguar do not get big (bad comparison with a rtc) - max out to be 8'' I brought the Jags few weeks ago wild caught so its probably MY fault that I didn't wait longer to QT them.

Am going to do salt bath per advice from few people (which has many years of experience with fish- centuries combined :) . dip their food in melafix/pimafix before feeding to them The guys won't be happy but that's what I have to do.

and do many water changes I'm going to do a metro dose as I'm thinking the jag's not recovered yet so gotta let that one do its course too. as well do a wormer course as well.

the red spots seemed to have looked better after putting melafix and pimafix into the tank while doing water changes. This morning the spots didn't look as red as before so will continue to do this.
