ive been using this stuff to polish my 100 gallon acrylic (by hand) with meh results. till today. i bought a 6" orbital buffer ($20ish from home depot by ryobi). i guess i wasnt applying enough pressure or i couldnt continue in the same spot long enough. i did a test run on a spare piece of acrylic i had laying around. i sanded it with 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper, then steps 3, 2, 1 of novus and you seriously cant tell where i sanded. it took less than 10 minutes to buff away the scuff from the sandpaper.

i cant wait to get started on my 100 gallon (i have to pick up my daughter at the airport this afternoon, so im waiting until i get back). needless to say, im very impressed!

How many times can you re-finish a Acrylic tank before causing any problems with structural integrity?

i have no idea. i know buffing too long or using too much pressure on one spot can create excess heat which can melt the acrylic. ive been doing small spurts and touching the plastic in between to check temperature. i just practiced on a lid (amazing)

Cool. You should post some before and after pictures.

crud, i forgot to take before photos (making after photos pretty useless) :( but i have to say that the tank look a billion times better than it did.

:) GREAT Product!! Use it on my Tenecor regularly. (samples were supplied by the mfgr.) Just remember when power buffing w/ #2 or #3 to use clean bonnets & keep the speed at 1000rpm or less. Btw, good move testing on the lid before the main tank surface (did the same). "T"

i figured the lids are there to keep the fish in. as long as light would pass through i was ok. i have a 60 acrylic that needs a little tlc. i should see if i can get before and after photos of it

:) Good deal! Photos & a 'step by step' would help others get a better feel for the procedure. "T"

its so scary when you dont know how to do it. the novus site has a great series of little videos about how to use their products
