I just bought one of those and was trying to get a reaction going. They say you should add sugar, add Stabilizer, add Activator and add lukewarm water (68-86 F). I did that the temp of the water I added was around 82 and I got no reaction. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong?

I was thinking that the water really didn't feel warm or lukewarm at all, felt kinda cold, I don't think the thermometer is broken, I tested with 2 of those and they gave the same reading.
 
I can barely keep up with all the posts that are made.

Thank you for the quick reply though, I will try doing that but first gotta get the water to the right temp....gunna risk losing another package os the mixture, i already lost one pair.
 
Wait a second.

IS AquaSafe Water Conditioner the same as dechlorinator?
 
It will usually take 8 hours until their is enough CO2 to be noticed. Remember the airline tubing is filled with water below the waterline and has this has to be pushed out by the gas before you see bubbles.

Also those packages are only baking soda and yeast, which can bought easily and cheaply at any food store.
 
I've got yeast and baking soda here already. Do you know what the recipe is? quantity for each of them?
 
The baking soda isn't that necessary, it only lowers the acidity of the solution.

The amount of yeast and sugar is based on the size of the tank and the amount of CO2 you want. I would just use the quanities that Nutrafin supplied you and see how well that works, you want your levels between 15-25 ppm...any less won't help the plants and any more will hurt your fish.
