at least you're big enough to admit to it. it's a good lesson to learn (unless you're the octopus) as you'll be even more careful with your future endeavours
upon further inspection i found that the silver slider had in fact been eaten. the octopus died because it got out of the main tank and into the filter system...always so curios...
WOW.. The Octo was your "first aquarium pet????!" :jaw:
Thats a pretty high maintence first choice you chose...
I have known a few differnt people who have attempted to raise octos, but have never suceeded.....
I only hope that this experience dosn't damper your spirts on keeping anyother type of "livestock."
OK I know this of topic but is up with all the Steve Irwin Avatars? He was a great man loved his animal's and protecting wild life, I was a big fan of his.

Well...it takes a lotta balls to admit it....In a strange way, this should be a good thing for people to read and learn a lot from...Even though best intentions are there and we do all we can to provide the best habitat we can, things can still go pete tong. Its then down to each of us to learn what went wrong or what we did wrong so when the next person attempts something, we can then pass on this knowledge to them with hope that the same thing does not happen to them.
I, the same as countless other marine aquarists, have made mistakes, even the best of us do it, its all put down to gaining experience and understanding and we move forward.
the slits i cut into the fine net on the overflow(that was originally placed their to keep him from escaping) to keep it from clogging gave him a rout of escape. to anyone else who might want to keep an octopus. if you wonder to yourself if a hole is too big...it is.
