Octopus tank (log)

i dont think that such a small spike would necessarily kill the octopus. Im not sure. But if i was going to keep an octopus, i would keep it in a 125g + tank, which probably would have eliminated the spike alltogether cause thats more than double the water volume.

Besides that, it looks like you did a good job. Im sorry to hear about your loss, better luck next time. Dont be afraid to try again some time. Let the tank mature more, and get a bigger tank, and i think you would be ok.

But anyways, im sorry to hear of the loss.

I hate that he died. Keep your chin up and continue the hobby!

I'm so sorry. You really did try to educate yourself ahead of time and I give you many kudos for that. Good lesson learned to wait on more advanced species when you're new to the hobby. Sincerely though, don't beat yourself up too much because you're ahead of the pack on researching before you bought.

I am so sorry for your loss, he really was a cute guy.. And quit being so hard on yourself I think you did a great job at trying to educate yourself before making your purchase. We all live and learn and it is a part of life. I hope that this doesn't dampen your enthusiasm for the hobby and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

don't worry about me giving up on aquariums. i cant imagine ever not having a tank anymore, and the more the marrier. last night i was sure id never get an octopus again but once i got past the dieing part and thought about the little interactions we had i know im going to try again sometime. i just need to make sure i do a better job at escape proofing it and even though ammonia wasn't the cause of death next time ill make sure i have stars in their before the octopus comes to take care of food that might not be eaten. speeking of witch i was rite about the near full grown octopus leaving the crabs alone ;) (though it might have just been a matter of time)

anyways, im not sure what the tank will be used for next maybe fish, maybe another octopus.

thank you for your comments :)

I suggest fish. Go with that for a while and enjoy the personality that fish can offer. Then maybe move toward that octo when you have a mature system and the little things like ammonia won't even be an issue.

I would agree with trainedkilla go with fish, and then in the future try another octopus with a more mature tank at least 2 to 3 years. Good luck and again sorry for your loss

What does Kudos mean?
