I live in Alabama and I believe that all snakeheads have been out lawed since the scare in Maine and other states with the northern snakeheads

If you've got a 75 gallon tank that you can use...Try a wolf fish (Hoplias malabaricus). If it swims, a wolf fish will eat it.

It may be illegal to buy/sell them, but is it actually illegal to keep one once its in the country?

In many states, yes. They didn't allow a grandfather clause.

Definitely, a wolffish would eat it.

Why not get something like... a bucktooth tetra? Get a pack of like 8 and you'll be good to go!

I'd say a monster fish if you can find one......a carnivorous oddball that is basically one big mouth.

I was also thinking gar or pike - but those might get too large for the size of the tank.

Looked at the monster fish online and was not able to get much info. Has anyone raised this fish?
