Does anyone know if Zebra Danios have a tendancy to jump?????? I was just waking up this morning when I heard a little splash from my aquarium. I figured one had just jumped but didn't think much of it cause my tank is covered. I get up to feed them and there is only 3 in there out of the usual 4. I coulnd't find the 4th one ANYWHERE! I have a small opening at the back of my tank, last night I did a water change and filled up the tank nice and full. I guess the little guy took a leap of faith and succeeded! I feel SO bad though!!!!

habeas corpus

Don't give up until you find a body. I had a similar experience last summer and 4 days later I found the suspect swimming happily around in the tank. No idea where it went!

"Oh, Babs, have you been on Holiday?" ;)

You were right! I found the fourth swimming happily in the tank last night! I have NO idea where he was hiding....hahaha...didn't even come out when I fed them! But now he is looking healthier than ever......strange!

I've had two jump out in two years! The only space available for them to jump out of is the space right in front of my AC300. One I never found (cat?) and the other I found too late to save...but a little salt and vinegar and he made a good chip!;)

I remember about a year or so ago, I moved the little baby thingie I had in my tank with some babies in it to feed them, and right as I was picking up the can, one jumped on the lid of the baby holder and started floppin around. It scared the crap out of me, but then he just flopped right back into the tank.

Do you have on HOB (hang on the back) filter. I noticed with my zebras that they have jumped into the filter outtake of my AquaClear several times.

It's kinda funny to watch them bounce around inside of the filter. They always found their way back out.

I agree with Bruddah but it is amazing how small of a hole fish will jump through. I have covered 99% and still had a fish get through the 1% opening.
