OMG HELP, what do I do? Baby Needlefish?!

Someone help quick, I don't know what to do.

I just saw one swimming around. I didn't know they were breeding, I didn't know anyone had laid eggs and I am shocked to see it.

The tank is full of potential predators, even more that would have eaten the eggs.

I have a 5G Nano set up right now I was going to hatch triops in, would it kill the baby to move it?

Current fish list with the Needlefish (which are tiny)

Full grown dragon fish, sailfin pleco (surprised he didn't get the eggs), 3 juvenile (err, i guess not?) Needlefish, about a dozen Rosy Reds, 3 mollies, two CAEs, 6 cories, a striped raphael, two bumblebee cats, a zigzag eel and I'm sure there is some I have forgotten.

I'm right to assume this thing has absolutely no chance to survive? I've only seen one so far but I freaked out and ran to my computer the second I did. It is definitley a Needlefish, it had the stripe and it even 'yawned' like the adults do.

anyways, help quick, I want it to survive.
 
are we talking needlenose gars? If it is, You should document it and put any changes that have been made or not made to the tank along with params. They are pretty tough to get to breed in a aquarium and I'm sure there are people who would like to know how it happened and perhaps what induced it.
 
i know they aren't a gar, but their trade name is usually needlenose gar.

I had luck getting the large one to eat brine shrimp (live) so i would puttem in that 5 if its open, and hatch some baby brine for em and hope for the best.
 
If the water params are the same in the 5g, go for it. Keep it dark and use a plastic bag, not a net to catch the fish to avoid stress. This is totally awesome!
 
Oh.. well there is a Needlenose gar but it's a completely different fish, that's what I thought you meant.

There are two healthy ones so far and they look like exact clones of their parents. Sadly one of the adults has ich, I was just ready to start treatment but I think I'll hold off until the eggs are finished hatching. I think I'm going to try to move two of the young ones and see how they do. It's either them being moved or them having to try to survive in the tank they're in, there's nothing else I can do.

They're in a heavily planted 55. The adults are no more than 5 or 6 inches long. I use RO water and just added CO2 injection about a week ago.. it gets pretty acidic during the day, KH of near 0..

The parents are well fed getting about 4 Rosy Reds, each, a day. 8 hour light cycle, 80F temp (just recently turned up to treat the ich, this might have triggered it).
 
wow now those are some teeney fish!
