Hi,
I have a new 500 l tank (JBL 500 filter, enough light)
I am planning to take an Oscar and a group of Clown Loaches. But could you please recommend me another fish that would be compatible with these two and that is attractive to watch too (very exotic species are not available here in Estonia I'm afraid). And which fishes I have to let in first?
Thank you in advance,
Ave

exotic may mean different things to different people. let's work this the other way ... you tell us what's available and what you like and we'll help you decide what will work in your tank.

it could be some beautiful dither fish. some suggest silver dollars but I´ve heard they would eat all plants. any other suggestions? perhaps some chiclid but which on?

IMO a 500 liter tank (132 gallons) is not going to be big enough to house an oscar and a proper sized group of clown loaches long term; much less additional fish.

I think it would be fine, as slow as clown loach's grow it would be sufficient space for many years.

It means exactly what it says.. We all know clown loaches can reach 12" and it takes close to a decade for that to occur. So saying "for many years" means if each fish lives to full adulthood in that tank then no he would need a bigger tank, but giving the extremely slow growth rate then he would be fine for many years and would have plenty of time to upgrade in the future if needed.

that is coming from some one with a clown loach in a 90gal. at my parents place there is a clown loach in a 150 gal aand has been there for 6 years this year, he is about 7 or 8 inches in lenght

My clown loaches are in a 90 gallon because I am following the advice that is recommended method of raising them from the great people at www.loaches.com. Recommended care for the clown loach can be found here:

There is no need to make a personal attack; I never said that clown loaches could not be kept in 130 gallon aquarium; I said that they could not be housed long term with an oscar and other fish. Size is not the only issue; between the loaches and the oscar enough waste will be produced that 130 aquarium will not support the bio-load of these fish long term. Adding more fish will only result in the need to upgrade sooner. I understand the needs of my loaches and have both the commitment and the resources to upgrade as soon as is necessary. This is not the case for everyone so I just wanted to make sure that the original poster knowns what will need to be done.
