yup, you're lucky. those drops can be deadly. i had a male white cloud minnow that fell when i was moving him and he hit himself so hard, that he didn't recover. i had to put him down because i think he got brain damage :(

however, i also had a flying whisker barb that literally flew (hence the name "flying") 5 feet through the air and landed far away on the ground and didn't suffer any damage. i guess it's all how they land.

We had a Betta fish in a temporary bowl (brand new fish, like a few hours old) when I was about 12 or so. Our cat jumped atop the counter, knocked the bowl over, watched as the fish slid across the counter in the water, and happily started lapping up the water with the fish flopping beside him. My mom, hearing thecrash, ran into the kitchen and put the fish back in water, but yeah... close call and we forever covered fish - in a temporary bowl or not - after that ><

Hmmmm....... Lots of people have fish that jumped out huh.... I'm just glad that my Oscar is now OK.... I love that big booger. I think I will now rename him "Lucky Scarface"...... His previous name was "Duface", (name was given to him by hubby's nephew.

I had a betta that jumped out of it's tank. The thing is though, no one was home so he didn't make it. When I got home he was on the table all dried up.
I had a lid but it wasn't on all the way.

I woke up one morning to seeing my Oscar jump out of his tank. He pushed the lid cover up when he jumped (talented little guy). He sailed 2 or 3 feet would have gone further had it not been for the wall. That was over a year ago. What a way to wake up. :coffee2:

i had an oto jump out of my 200 litre while i was sleeping .. woke up to a dry fish =( poor thing didnt have a chance.

Medication

Glad to hear the Oscar is doing ok! If it still has open sores, some antibiotics/stress coat might help stave off a more serious infection
