hello,we have a 30 gal. with 10 painted glass tetras.on the fins of 4 tetras there are what i thought was ick.i have been treating the tank for 7 days and no change.could it be somthing else?it looks likewhite specks on the outer parts of the fins.the instructions said 1 drop per gal.and for tetras 1 drop per 2 gal.so i only add 15 drops.also when then are ick free can they be added to a tank with mollies?thanks

I don't remember any thread where someone here berated someone for unknowingly buying painted or tatooed fish. Rather, contempt and disgust was expressed for the LFS selling them and the practice in general.
Instead of belabouring the point, why isn't anyone helping this person with their ich problem?

Assuming this is ich, instead of using medication, and the one you are using probably contains malachite green since it has different directions for tetras, try using the salt + heat method:

Add new carbon to your filter to remove the medication you already have in there. Then follow the directions in the article.
Remember to treat for at least 7 days after the last spot drops off the fish.

i didnt know they dipped injected fish in acid before their injection, i thought they just dipped the fish they dyed (like jellybean parrots). why would they need to dip injected ones in acid? i had a painted glass live for years, its just that most are so stressed from their ordeal that they dont make it, but they can live out a long, full, healthy life if they make it through their recovery from the human torture they have received.
thanks roan art.i think some of the people need to take a vacation so maybe go see a doctor or somthing to help them relax some!!!i did not know they did that when i got them.i went in there and they were throwing them away because they had ick.i told them i will take them so they dont flush them.
FWIR only 3% make it. Dunno about the acid. I think that's for a full body dye. FWIR for tatooing the dye is injected with a needle under the scales. Here:reptileguy2727 said:
