I wany to set up a Paludarium in a 40g breeder and I was wondering about possible amphibians. I plan on putting a big school of tetras in there so they would need to be kinda fish friendly. I was thinking about newts but they like colder water (>75) plus, they secrete a toxin that might harm fish? Im not really A fan of turtles, any suggestions?

Thats a thought, they look pretty cool. But then that brings me back to needing a coldwater fish, I really dont know of any. Im a tropical guy and this paludarium is a whole new adventure.
I am leaning more towards an Amazon biotope, maybe some kind of frog. I am having trouble finding frogs though, they all seem to be tree frogs.
I found some ideas for fish, white clouds (like you suggested) and also barbs can be kept in mid 60's.

The fire bellies are semi aquatic right? That kinda what I am looking for the setup. I dont mind if they pick of a fish here and there, thats what will make my tank more realistic.
nooo!!! :eek3: Axies need to be housed alone. period. Any fish they're kept with will eventually get eaten, and can hurt the axy in the process. There are tons of horror stories of fish getting stuck in the axies mouth. They will eat anything they can catch, which is a lot since they're active at night and snap like an alligator at anything that moves.
personally, I would go with either a frog or a spider. They'll both utilize the land, and only use the water for hydration.
