im looking into buying some fry from fishfarmusa on aquabid and would like to know what are the basics needed to keep these beautiful fish? ive found hardly any information on google search about these cichlids Parachromis sp. Yellow Head La Ceiba

Im sure Ken from fishfarm would be happy to answer your questions. He is a Vendor on MFK, so PM him.

yeah actually i sent him a pm last night waiting for a reply

probably not much information on the web- he's the only one that sells them, plus there not a valid subspecies or geographical variant. there's a possibility they're a variation of p. loiselli- and they have pretty much the same care requirements.

well either way i think they will be a great cichlid

Zombie thread I command you to come back to life lol. Hey Nano what ever happened did you end up getting some or not? I was just looking up info on different Parachromis sp. and this old thread showed up.

Hahaha no never did. I have built a very large wish list though! Lmao I'm going to need more tanks and I'll probably turn the storage room into a fish room, we have our heater and water heater in there. Lots of heat so I can keep the heaters on a lower setting to save money. Only thing truly stopping me is I'm worried the humidity created from the amount of tanks will either A get into our heating unit and give the pilot light issues, or B the massive amount of humidity in an enclosed area causing problems trough out the house. I'll probably have to have am external vent or fan to remove the humidity. Either way I really want to get a TON of wild caught Parachromis species and breed them to distribute.

Oh ok. Im not really into breeding them now I just want them for show. I do like having pairs though just wish they would all get along in smaller tanks like 75 gallon tanks. Not like I can do any bigger WC's I do like a 90-95% WC every week on all my tanks.

Holy cow I only do 20-40% depending on how much I feed them or the water quality. But I'm housing EBJDs and parrots so quality is all. I also do water changes every other day.
